Ia kelihatan seperti jam tangan biasa apabila dibandingkan dengan Gear S2 yang lebih menyerupai sebuah jam tangan mainan. Skrin sesentuh SAMOLED lebih besar digunakan dengan resolusi 360×360 pixel. Tahun lalu skrin hanya sebesar Kaca Corning Glass SR+ digunakan bagi memastikan ia tahan calar dan pecah ketika digunakan. Skrin ini menyokong paparan Always On Display. Skrin akan menjadi sedikit malap apabila ia aktif tetapi masih menunjukkan muka jam. Ia akan menyala semula apabila mengesan pergerakan tangan. Ini memberikan Gear S3 fungsi setanding Always On yang digunakan pada peranti Android Wear seperti Moto 360 2015. Pemproses Exynos 7270 dipadankan dengan RAM sebesar 786 Megabyte dan storan 4 Gigabyte. Storan ini adalah bagi memasang aplikasi dan menyimpan fail muzik MP3. Pada hari pertama, lebih 2 Gigabyte telah digunakan untuk fail sistem jadi pengguna hanya mempunyai sekitar Gigabyte storan yang boleh digunakan. Bateri 380 mAh digunakan dan ini merupakan peningkatan berbanding 250 mAh pada Gear S2. Sistem pengecasan tanpa wayar dengan tempat pengecasan khas dikekalkan. Saiz pengecas juga meningkat jika dibandingkan dengan model tahun lalu. Sambungan kepada pengecas mengekal port MikroUSB. Tahun ini ia dilengkapi sistem NFC untuk pembayaran Samsung Pay, GPS, Barometer, Girometer, dan Accelerometer Bagi yang mahu mengesan kesihatan, pengimbas nadi optikal terletak pada bahagian panel bawah jam. Sokongan panggilan suara dikembalikan. Apabila ditambat kepada jam tangan pintar, panggilan boleh dilakukan dan diterima terus dari Gear S3. Bagi yang mahu mendengar muzik, sebuah pemain muzik terbina juga disertakan berserta tambatan kepada fon kepala/telinga secara Bluetooth. Rekabentuk Rekabentuk jam yang lebih ranggi, tahan lasak dan agresif sesuai dengan nama Frontier yang mensasarkan golongan yang gemar melakukan aktiviti luar. Dua butang pada sisi kanan digunakan sebagai butang home merangkap butang kuasa dan butang back seperti pada peranti Android biasa. Penggunaan sistem seakan peranti Android ini mempercepatkan proses pemilik mempelajari Kedua-dua butang diperbuat daripada logam dengan tekstur kasar bagi membezakannya dari tubuh Stainless Steel peranti yang licin. Sistem bezel berputar digunakan untuk melakukan navigasi pada antaramuka Tizen. Dengan sistem ini pengguna tidak perlu sentiasa menyentuh bahagian skrin sekaligus mengurangkan kekotoran. Tahun lalu perkara yang mengecewakan mengenai Gear S2 ialah roda bezel yang terasa agak longgar. Tahun ini perkara yang sama berulang. Kelonggaran ini sedikit sebanyak mencacatkan ke-premium-an yang cuba diketengahkan oleh Samsung. Tahun ini perubahan besar turut dilakukan pada tali jam. Sebarang tali jam 22 mm boleh digunakan oleh pemilik sekiranya tali jam yang diperbuat daripada silikon tidak memenuhi citarasa mereka. Dengan setiap pembelian, dua saiz tali jam silikon disertakan. Tali jam yang disertakan selesa untuk dipakai dan agak tebal. Ini diharap dapat menyelesaikan masalah tali jam yang terlalu mudah putus pada Gear S2. Kerana rekaannya yang lebih besar dan ranggi, Gear S3 juga jauh lebih berat. Ini kami rasakan membuatkan Gear S3 akan lebih menarik minat kaum lelaki berbanding wanita. Antaramuka Gear S3 menggunakan sistem operasi Tizen Wearable Dari segi rupa ia tidak membawa sebarang perubahan berbanding yang digunakan pada Gear S2. Melayari antaramuka jam tangan pintar ini agak mudah. Butang home ditekan untuk melihat senarai kesemua aplikasi terpasang. Bezel diputar bagi bagi memilih aplikasi yang dimahukan. Tekan skrin untuk membuka aplikasi. Sekiranya mahu pulang semula ke pilihan aplikasi, tekan butang back yang berada di atas butang home. Menukar muka jam dilakukan dengan menekan skrin. Gunakan bezel sekali lagi untuk memilih muka jam yang diingini. Sebanyak 15 muka jam disertakan dan berpuluh lagi boleh dimuat turun menerusi aplikasi Galaxy Apps. Dari muka jam, putaran bezel melawan arah jam akan menunjukkan kesemua notifikasi dari peranti pintar. Pengguna mempunyai pilihan membaca mesej terus dari skrin jam atau membukanya pada peranti pintar. Putaran mengikut arah jam muka mengakses fungsi widget. Antara widget yang disertakan ialah untuk jumlah langkah, cuaca semasa, kalori dibakar, kalendar peringatan acara, melakukan panggilan telefon dan juga skrin kawalan pemain muzik. Aturan paparan widget boleh diubah terus dari Gear S3. Aplikasi Samsung Gear telah dikemaskini bagi memudahkan lagi melihat maklumat yang diperlukan. Ia akhirnya menunjukkan tahap bateri serta anggaran hayat peranti, ruangan storan dan penggunaan RAM. Melakukan kustomasi muka jam juga jauh lebih mudah menerusi aplikasi ini. Bercakap tentang aplikasi kekurangan tahun lalu masih tidak menunjukkan perbezaan yang ketara. Sokongan aplikasi pada platform Tizen Wearable masih lagi rendah jika dibandingkan dengan WatchOS dan Android Wear. Panggilan Suara Dan SMS Fungsi panggilan telefon dikembalikan semula selepas tidak hadir pada Gear S2. Tambatan kepada sebuah peranti pintar adalah perlu bagi mengaktifkan fungsi telefoni ini. Panggilan suara dilakukan dengan memilih aplikasi telefon dan mencari individu yang ingin dihubungi dari buku alamat yang ditarik sepenuhnya dari peranti pintar pengguna. Roda bezel apabila di pusing pantas membenarkan senarai nama dicari menggunakan aturan abjad. Untuk mendail secara terus, pendail nombor berbentuk roda disertakan. Kualiti panggilan suara adalah baik. Penerima panggilan melaporkan kualiti audio yang cukup terang cuma pembesar suara yang digunakan tidak cukup kuat untuk mendengar perbualan di kawasan terbuka. Pada tetapan tertinggi bunyi yang dihasilkan sedikit pecah. Kualiti audio boleh dipertingkatkan dengan menambat fon kepala/telinga secara Bluetooth. Gear S3 akan menjadi “gagang” telefon yang sekaligus membuatkan pengguna kelihatan seperti Dick Tracy. Bagi yang mahukan privasi, penggunaan fon telinga Blutetooth ketika melakukan panggilan suara adalah perlu. Fungsi telefoni ini kami rasakan berguna bagi mereka yang sedang bersenam dan tidak mudah mengeluarkan peranti dari kocek. Kami menggunakan fungsi beberapa kali ketika memandu. Ia jauh lebih selamat dari menjawab panggilan dengan satu tangan sahaja memegang stereng. Menghantar SMS sama seperti pada melakukan panggilan telefon. Buka aplikasi pemesejan dan pilih penerima SMS. Kandungan SMS ditaip menggunakan sebuah papan kekunci T9. Setelah bertahun tidak menggunakan papan kekunci T9, menaip menggunakannya menjadi amat canggung. Terdapat sokongan emoji dan menghantar imej lakaran sendiri menggunakan MMS. Cara paling mudah ialah melakar dengan jari. Sistem pengenalan tulisan tangan yang ditemui pada peranti Galaxy Note digunakan di sini. Pengenalan abjad yang dilakar adalah amat baik. Tetapi haru kami masih akan mengatakan menaip pada skrin masih belum cukup mesra pengguna. Kesesuaian Dengan Peranti Bukan Samsung Ini ialah soalan yang paling banyak kami terima selepas artikel pandang pertama ditulis minggu lalu. Sepanjang tempoh ulasan kami menambat Gear S3 pada tiga peranti iaitu Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Xiaomi Mi Mix dan Lenovo Moto Z. Sungguhpun ketiga-tiganya menggunakan Android Marshmallow, pengalaman menggunakan Gear S3 mempunyai perbezaan yang nyata. Apabila digunakan bersama Samsung S7 Edge, jam tangan ini berfungsi dengan amat sempurna, pantas dan lancar. Notifikasi dihantar kurang sesaat selepas ia muncul pada telefon pintar ini. Gear S3 juga dengan pantas dapat ditambat kepada S7 Edge dengan masa purata 2 saat sahaja untuk proses diselesaikan. Pada Mi Mix dan Moto Z lain pula ceritanya. Proses tambatan mengambil masa sekitar 10-15 saat dan kadang kala gagal. Ini berlaku sungguhpun Gear S3 dan kedua-dua peranti pintar diletakkan sebelah menyebelah. Penghantaran notifikasi juga lebih lambat sekitar tiga saat. Kerap kali sambungan Bluetooth terputus dan enggan bersambung semula secara automatik. Kami hanya menyedarinya selepas terlalu banyak notifikasi pada telefon tidak muncul-muncul pada Gear S3. Bagaimana pula dengan iOS? Samsung menjanjikan sokongan iOS sejak Gear S2 muncul di pasaran tahun lalu. Sehingga kini hanya aplikasi hanya wujud dalam versi Beta tetapi Samsung menegaskan usaha untuk menyokong platform iOS masih dijalankan. Sebagai kesimpulan Samsung Gear S3 berfungsi dengan sempurna pada peranti keluaran Samsung. Berfungsi dengan sedikit masalah pada peranti Android lain dan masih dalam percubaan pada peranti iOS. Untuk menggunakan Gear S3 peranti Android dan ke atas diperlukan bagi memuat turun aplikasi Gear Manager. Bateri Bateri 380 mAh yang digunakan adalah peningkatan sebanyak 52% berbanding kapasiti bateri Gear S2 tahun lalu. Pada penggunaan biasa dengan skrin Always on Display dimatikan serta kesemua notifikasi peranti dihantar kepada jam, kami berjaya mendapat hayat penggunaan melebihi tiga hari. Ini ialah peningkatan sebanyak satu hari berbanding Gear S2. Sekiranya sistem Always on Display diaktifkan, hayat penggunaan Gear S3 jatuh dengan mendadak ke sekitar 30 jam. Hayat bateri Gear S3 adalah amat baik pada hemat kami. Dengan setiap generasi baru masalah perlu mengecas sekali sehari tidak lagi berlaku. Sungguhpun begitu masa mengecas masih melebihi dua jam. Bagi saiz bateri yang kecil masa yang amat lama untuk mengecas ini adalah mengecewakan kerana Samsung mempunyai sistem Adaptive Fast Charging. Pada S7 Edge, sistem pengecasan pantas ini boleh mengecas bateri 3600 mAh dalam masa 105 minit. Apabila dicas, jam tangan pintar ini akan melekap kepada pengecas yang bermagnet. Saiz pengecas meningkat berbanding tahun lalu selari dengan saiz skrin S3 yang turut meningkat. Muka jam akan berputar 90 darjah bagi memudahkan pemilik melihat waktu ketika dicas. Menarik sekali kotak Gear S3 berubah menjadi tempat pengecas lengkap dengan tempat simpanan wayar. Jika anda benci wayar berselirat, kotak merangkap tempat simpanan wayar ini amat berguna. Kesimpulan Samsung Gear S3 ialah jam tangan pintar generasi ke-enam dihasilkan oleh Samsung. Mereka banyak mempelajari dari kelemahan yang wujud pada Galaxy Gear, Gear 2, Gear S, Gear S2 dan Gear Live sebelum ini. Rekaan kesemua jam tangan yang kami senaraikan tadi dicemuh kerana kurang selesa untuk dipakai. Gear S2 yang muncul tahun lalu memperkenalkan sistem bezel berputar yang akhirnya memudahkan navigasi antaramuka pada skrin yang kecil. Dengan Gear S3, Samsung mengikut jejak langkah Huawei dan LG dengan menghasilkan jam tangan pintar yang kelihatan seperti jam tangan analog biasa. Rekaan lebih ranggi, tahan lasak dan maskulin ini memang nyata lebih menarik berbanding Gear S2 dan menambah baik rekaan Gear S2 Classic. Pada peranti keluaran Samsung Gear S2 berfungsi dengan cukup baik sekali. Tiada keluhan yang boleh kami tulis kerana ia Tizen Wearable OS adalah amat pantas dan mudah digunakan. Situasi berbeza berlaku apabila di dipadankan dengan peranti Android lain. Notifikasi hadir agak lambat dan kerap kali sambungan Bluetooth terhenti secara tiba-tiba. Ini adalah cukup menjengkelkan. Sokongan iOS masih belum kunjung tiba walaupun telah dijanjikan sejak Gear S2. Sokongan aplikasi juga masih rendah. Majoriti “aplikasi” yang boleh dimuat turun ialah muka jam. And yet, it fails to take enough leaps forward in its software. Last year's S2 was innovative, but it needed polishing. It looks good. Sarah Tew/CNETWhat's interestingSamsung Pay Adding Samsung Pay to the Gear S3 doesn't just enable tap-to-pay at the same places that usually accept Apple Pay or Android Pay. It has MST, a magnetic technology that's also on Samsung's Galaxy phones since the Note 5 and S6, and it works at any credit card terminal. It's essentially a use-anywhere virtual credit card, accessible with a double-click of a button. It works by sending a timed ping that works at vending machines, terminals or anywhere close to the credit card reader. The Gear S2 added Samsung Pay, but only the NFC kind.Spotify Samsung finally made good on offering a Spotify app on the Gear S3 and S2, and it works. There are caveats It can stream over Wi-Fi or LTE if you bought a Gear S3 that has LTE, like my review model, but it can't download tracks. And its interface is bad. The big and I mean big design feels like a massive sports watch on my thick, hairy wrist. But that design isn't for a lot of people, and loses universal appeal as a result. But at least it feels really well built and looks high-end. The LTE-equipped model is like a tank. But damn, if you like large watches, this is an eye-catching a full stand-alone phone with LTE If you buy the LTE model, it can take calls and even connect apps on the go via AT&T or T-Mobile in the US. If you want a phone on your wrist, here it is. And it's probably the best phone-on-wrist watch that exists. With AT&T, for instance, the watch can share a number with your Android/Samsung phone. Add Bluetooth headphones, and discreet calls can be taken. Would I need that? No. Some might, though. But to use this as an LTE phone, you'll need to pay a monthly fee to add it to your phone plan. Samsung's S Health fitness features are surprisingly good S Health is the required baked-in way to track fitness on the Gear S, but it does heart rate and automatic activity tracking, can log water and coffee intake, and reminds me when I've stayed still too long. It even recommends stretching exercises when I stand again. I like that the S Health encourages activity streaks - walk for a while, and it shows me how long I've been walking for - and sometimes it borders on fitness iOS you can connect and even install apps Samsung's iOS app is not good, but it's more versatile than a basic Android Wear conduit. Samsung S Health connects for fitness tracking, and a handful of apps and watch faces can be downloaded. Just not all of them - Spotify and Uber don't make the cut, for S-Voice works... pretty well Google's upcoming Assistant improvements to Android Wear, and Siri on Apple Watch, offer more connections to phone functions. S-Voice still works OK, though, and can do more than you'd expect setting alarms, calling a contact, getting weather, asking what an aardvark is. It can retrieve brief entries from sources such as Wikipedia. It connects with iOS to some degree. The amount of apps for Gear watches has trickled to a near standstill. And while there are some clever games and watch faces, and a few brand-name apps like a CNN or Bloomberg or ESPN watch face, or Uber or Spotify, these apps are so few and far between that you'll hunger for any new one just to justify your Gear purchase. There are technically thousands of Gear S3-compatible apps... but few of them are anything recognizable, or anything most people would want to interface Last year, the Gear S2's novel spinning wheel design for navigation was eye-popping and fun. But it's also time-consuming, and I can't get to what I need as fast as I can on an Apple Watch. Too much dial-spinning, and two buttons to push instead of one, add up to a lot of wasted time fiddling around. At-a-glance info isn't always easy because most Samsung Gear watch faces are light on customization. I can't pack on shortcuts or quick readout info like on the Apple Watch - say, to music or weather or calendar. A more efficient design is needed. It's definitely better than Android Wear right now, but it's not another leap forward. And getting some apps to work requires a mix of Samsung apps, conduit apps and maybe even double log-ins. Spotify required another log-in once my phone was out of reach.LTE model can drain the battery fast I did get two days of battery life on average using the S3 Frontier LTE model when paired to the phone, but if I used LTE to connect to the watch away from the phone, battery life slipped away fast. Depending on what I did, my watch could drain before I got home for dinner and my watch charger. A day on LTE standby was typical - but not guaranteed. What's the use of a smartwatch that has such a wide range of battery endurance depending on performance?It's water resistant, but not swim proof IP68 means dust and dunk-friendly, but unlike the Apple Watch Series 2, you're not meant to go swimming. If only there were more good apps. Sarah Tew/CNETWould I buy one? Would I recommend the Samsung Gear S3 to an iPhone owner? Absolutely not. But with Android phone owners, the decision is harder. There is no perfect watch right now, just a field of inferior products. Android Wear isn't a good answer now, although Android Wear could provide some promise starting in the next few months. Pebble has been absorbed by Fitbit. Samsung offers some interesting options with the Gear S3, and its ability to be a full phone if you spring for the LTE model could appeal to some more than a year since the Gear S2, the S3 amounts to a lateral move. Improved hardware, but not improved software. And no matter how clever the S3's design is, it needs to be better at delivering information fast. The buttons are knurled for easy grip, and the bezel turns with a light clicking action, just like on a diving this is no cosmetic feature. The bezel is key to the Gear S3’s user interface spin it and the Gear S3 cycles through its various notifications and widget screens. There’s also only a small library of third-party apps yes, there’s a remote control app for Spotify, and an app for downloading and creating your own watch faces, and even a few games. It offers excellent automatic tracking you only have to walk briskly for a few minutes for the watch to detect the activity and log it. It’ll also quickly catch in if you forget to tell it you’re going for a run. It can even automatically pause its logging for brief stops, such as waiting to cross a road. The details it records range from your average speed, distance and heart-rate data to some more unusual statistics such as average and maximum thing we particularly like about the Gear S3 is that you don’t necessarily have to hop onto your phone to browse all this data. There’s a good range of health-based widgets on the watch itself that can be dropped onto the right-hand side of the watch face, showing information such as calories burned, steps taken and your recent sleep record. A few cute extras include the number of floors you’ve climbed and how much coffee and water you’ve consumed. You do have to manually log the latter, you want to drill into your fitness history then it’s time to switch to the S Health app on your smartphone, which collects all this data and presents it in a digestible format. Your fitness goals are set out at the top of the main app screen, with a few graphs beneath by default these show your steps and sleep. A set of boxes below show other measurements, including your stress levels, SpO₂ levels and so forth tap on any one of them for more pretty impressive, and it makes the Gear S3 a front-runner in the field of fitness smartwatches.
